Very glad to discover your site. I live in BC in Canada and am planning an outdoor hydroponic garden this spring. I like the concept of the 5" x 5" rails tyhat I have seen on Youtube by one of your members. Any insight as to where I can order these plastic fence posts that are used as rails?
Thanks very much

For growing vegetative crops there is something very nice about having natural color lights, but obviously it isn't quite as efficient as R:B. However the full spectrum is much more versatile as some crops will have morphological issues with just red and blue light. I'm not sure what mix of spectra the progrow has, hopefully more than 2 or 3. As far as flowering/fruiting goes you just need more power than either of those lights can provide alone. Usually 300-400W of LED for a 4x4 area is my recommendation regardless of the light maker or diode brand.

Id say the coverage of the 100W is more like 2×4. Like you stated I find this unit is intended for veg only....hardly any red in this panel..
The price is kinda a turn off, you can get a progrow(180) for a good amount less and an actual power draw of 160watts with selective switch(veg-flower). Mostly Cree diodes in the veg mode which appeals to me much more than the epistar leds used in the isunlight panel.. I dunno stuck between the two....any thoughts???

Thanx for the response, do you think the effective coverage area is really 3×3????<br

We are keeping a yellow Bolivian Locoto with it and the soil is just moist, not wet. It senses the soils moisture and applies water accordingly, totally on mechanics, no power needed. Quite pleased with it so far, and it has the potential to save lots of water in outdoor use in addition. We are going to use that in our little tomato-house at our allotment garden next year for sure.

I’ve taken a look into the Tropf Blumat automatic watering system from Austria. It seems like almost every time i see pics or a video where someone is using STG, I see a nasty green layer of algae growing on top of it. They say it's non wicking, so that leads me to believe it's cause by people who are top watering.
Also, do you find that you need to use additional stakes or support when using STG? It seems like since it's so soft, the plant wouldn't be very stable after it got larger.

Do you ever have problems with algae when using STG?
